THE PLOT
I. THE INFECTION
No one knows the origin of the bacteria. But it is said to have come from a lone tree in the middle of an open space. It is yet to be proven if such a place even existed. But the first outbreak started to happen in the most populated of cities: Slateport and Lilycove. The symptoms appeared to be similar to those 'zombies' described in modern television, except these were much more aggressive. Zombies will attack anything on sight.
The infection only affected pokemon, not humans. But humans normally wouldn't live through the attack. After the first outbreak the infection spread like wildfire. Soon after a lot of people abandoned their homes and sought refuge. Those who were close enough managed to go to Sootopolis. With a small population the city could afford to take in more humans, but when it reached its capacity they decided to close their doors. Literally. The underwater doors shut closed and a giant net was hung above to keep anything aerial from entering. And it worked for the most part.
Some were outraged, but some were thankful.
II. UNITY
When the city was about to fall under the run of Wallace, the military stepped in. They took over control of the city and therefore made certain rules citizens had to follow. People were on their side for a few years, but that changed when things settled down and the rumors started to spread.
Over forty years have passed since the doors closed. The net was taken down as it made people feel confined, but this means on occasion zombies do fly into the city. Officers would always be there to take care of them, so no real harm came to the citizens. Scavengers were set up to scavenge neighboring cities for supplies.
The city is under Martial Law and is run by the military, dubbed Enforcers. They act as an authoritarian figure and control every action within the city. Brutality seems to be a common word used to describe an Enforcer. Not everyone, but some. Most civilians and officers even, dislike them. But they run the city.
The city is now accepting any refuges who might be seeking shelter. People are allowed to come and go as they please. However they are heavily advised against doing so. It is extremely difficult to live out there. Those who dare venture out often do not live.
All types of pokemon are banned in the city. The city does not want to take any risks with a possible outbreak. However when you're outside the walls then you can do whatever you want. All citizens must abandon their pokemon before entering the city.
Tension is rising. Some want to leave, supplies are declining, and there is a constant fear of zombies. Where will you fit in?
